We study the fundamental principles of the fighting Kihon, kata, and kumite training build upon each other in our training. Shotokan training is normally separated into three categories: kihon, kata and kumite. Kumite, or sparring, is the practical application of kata to real opponents. Being the avid football fan I am of the hometown Superbowl Champion New York Football Giants (has a nice ring to it), I like to watch any and all things football- regular season or off-season.
